Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has expanded its partnership with the North American Basketball Association (NBA) to broadcast live NBA games in virtual reality. This is great news for basketball fans who want to experience their favorite games in a more immersive way. Firstly, the steps below will show you how to watch NBA in VR.

Here’s how to watch NBA in VR:

Fans in the US can view select live NBA games for free in virtual reality through Meta Quest. The NBA Arena in Meta Horizon Worlds experience will feature live NBA League Pass games in virtual reality throughout the season. Local blackouts still apply. Areas outside the US also don’t offer NBA in VR.

1. Download Xtadium app in the Meta Quest VR headset

2. Open Xtadium app

3. Enter/select into the NBA game

New Features in Meta Quest 2

Meta Quest 2 is the official VR platform of the NBA. Fans with access to Horizon Worlds and Xtadium can now enjoy new features and more basketball games in virtual reality. Also, the new NBA Arena in Horizon Worlds is available and comes with some new mini-games to pass the time. Additionally, Meta is offering exclusive NBA team apparel for avatars in the store.

Watch 52 Live NBA Season Games for Free

Fans will be able to watch a total of 52 live NBA season games for free in Meta’s proto-metaverse Horizon Worlds. Not only that, but five of these games will be broadcast as immersive monoscopic 180-degree video and hosted by well-known sports broadcasters. Additional 180-degree coverage of the WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League will follow.
